Kean's "Special" WinLIRC V1.0
Home Downloads Contact

I have made some modifications to the current release of WinLIRC (0.6.1pre2) to assist with my research on the infrared hardware of the Compaq iPAQ.

This version extends the learn mode function "Raw Codes" to provide a visual "Scope" view of the IR signal.  It is only a first attempt, and could use more work.  The scope view will show some lines in red to indicate very long pulses/gaps without excessive sideways scrolling needed.  I am hoping to add more options to Save, Load, and view the timing of the signals.

You will need Visual C++ 6 to compile the source (get WinLIRC first, then add my changes), or you can download the Win32 executable.

You also need special hardware to use the program.  See the LIRC receivers page for info on making an IR receiver to go on your PC's serial port.  I will probably put some info here on how I wired up mine.

I am hoping to try this without a IR receiver that filters a particular modulated frequency, so I can see the actual IR signals.  I don't have any more standard IR diodes in my parts drawers, so this will need to wait till I can drop by the local supplier, or rip apart another prototype.  In any case, I don't know if the PC will be fast enough, but I am expecting to working in the dark (really) to avoid stray IR.

When you run WinLIRC, it adds a small "LED" in the tray.  Double click on this, the choose Reconfigure, then Scope.  You should read the WinLIRC documentation.  Then play with it.  Then contact me.

This code is released under the GPL in accordance with the terms of the original WinLIRC source.
